Knott Brake Co. recently entered into a joint venture with Frima Friction Material Reibbelag GmbH Co. KG, a manufacturer of brake and coupling linings for industrial applications. The joint venture, Knott- Frima Friction, will supply friction materials and molded linings for a range of off-highway and industrial equipment markets, such as commercial turf, construction and agricultural machinery.
Knott-Frima Friction was established as a separate entity within Knott Brake, and it enables Knott to act as a single source for brakes and associated friction materials. Knott-Frima Friction manufactures non-asbestos organic dry-type friction materials exclusively.
Along with its in-house supply of friction technology for Knott Brake, Knott-Frima Friction will also supply the industry. As an example, the company said it is developing its business in the mower industry and is in the process of converting some of its smaller parts processing to incorporate the extrusion of preforms for pressing, thus moving away from standard milling operations.
